Funko Pop Chase & Variant Guide

Understanding Funko Pop Variants

Variants are special versions of standard Funko Pop figures. They feature unique finishes, poses, colors, or accessories that make them more desirable — and more valuable — than the common version. Variants are the backbone of Funko Pop collecting and often the most sought-after items in any series.

Chase Variants

Rarity: 1 in 6 boxes

Chase variants are alternate versions of common Pops packed randomly at a 1:6 ratio. They feature different poses, expressions, paint jobs, or accessories. Identified by a gold "CHASE" sticker on the box.

Value: Typically 2-10x the common version. Some highly sought-after Chases can be worth 20x+ the common. Always check our price tracker to compare Chase vs Common prices.

Glow in the Dark (GITD)

Marked as GITD or "Glow in the Dark" on box

These Pops feature glow-in-the-dark paint that illuminates after exposure to light. They display beautifully in dark rooms or blacklight setups.

Value: Premium varies widely. Standard GITD variants are 1.5-3x common price. GITD Chase combinations are among the most valuable Pops in existence.

Flocked

Soft, fuzzy texture coating

Flocked Pops have a velvety texture applied to part or all of the figure. Popular for animal characters (Winnie the Pooh, Scooby-Doo, Sonic).

Value: Typically 1.5-4x the standard version. Flocked exclusives from specific retailers command higher premiums.

Metallic & Chrome

Shiny metallic paint finish

These variants feature a reflective metallic or chrome paint job. Chrome Pops come in various colors (gold, silver, blue, red, green).

Value: Chrome convention exclusives can be extremely valuable. Standard metallic variants are typically 2-5x the common.

Diamond Collection

Glittery, sparkle finish

Diamond Collection Pops feature a glitter coating that gives them a sparkling appearance. Often retailer exclusives.

Value: Moderate premium, typically 1.5-3x common. Popular characters in Diamond can be worth significantly more.

Convention Exclusives

SDCC, NYCC, ECCC, and more

Convention exclusives are Pops created specifically for events like San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), New York Comic-Con (NYCC), and Emerald City Comic Con (ECCC). "Shared" exclusives are sold through retail partners like Target or Hot Topic.

Value: True convention exclusives (only available at the event) are the most valuable. Shared exclusives are more accessible but still command premiums. SDCC exclusives from early years (2011-2015) can be worth thousands.

Blacklight

Vibrant UV-reactive paint

Blacklight Pops feature neon colors that glow under UV/blacklight. They create stunning displays under blacklight setups.

Value: Typically 2-4x common. Full Blacklight series sets are particularly collectible.
